Portuguese for Foreigners - News Update

Hoje, uma aula singular: two girls from Germany and two guys from England. O clima? O melhor possível. The girls are sweet and the boys are very polite and kind in their ways to express themselves. It was very pleasant, in fact, because, as elementary students, they were forced to think strongly against other languages previously known to focus on Portuguese alone. É muito bom.

We talked about cultural differences of many natures. It was slow, but they've taken many notes and asked a lot about little details, like the ending of verbs, prepositions, articles, some difference between past tenses. But our main subject was them, what they think about themselves and their preferences in life and their point of view about ordinary things, like the weather and the implications of it in life. Autocrítica e autoconhecimento.

 

Não são falantes de espanhol, not Spanish speakers, então, easy to avoid constructions that are typical and of strong roots. Uma boa turma para se passar quatro horas ensinando. Tiresome, but pleasant, I sould say. Many thanks, then, to Andrew, Ella, Kersten and Larry, my students, today.
