West Side: shots of Volta Redonda

Há, graças à providência, sempre uma oportunidade de expandir os conhecimentos geográficos. This time, I went to a city very close to Rio de Janeiro, known by the iron and steel industry, the power of siderurgy, called: Volta Redonda.

Tão quente quanto a Tijuca, talvez um pouco mais, não posso ser injusto com a cidade e falar generalizando as coisas. Cobri apenas um perímetro medíocre da cidade, ali bem próximo à rodoviária. No entanto, as impressões existem e este lugar é, nada mais que, o lugar para as minhas tantas. So, these are the things I have to say about Volta Redonda

Hot, sweat, concrete and a lot of noise. The center of the city is a big wave of polutions: visual and noise. Why? The elections. Não tem um espaço ou esquina, que não tenha cavaletes, papéis, carros estampados, pessoas vestindo camisas, bem como carros de som e carros ainda maiores, com comícios esdrúxulos, falsas promessas, aquela ladainha muito bem conhecida. It's impossible to be happy under so much stress and confusion. Although, people seemed very used to.

 

I think it's pretty shity, to be honest. I hate this dirty behavior that politicians adopt to develop their campaingns. They go to the slums and exploit people to bother you on the streets, to make noise, to create caos, but not there to live it, you know? They are safe in bed, or in a distant summer breeze, drinking and smiling, while some of us live almost like roaches.

Mas, é como eu disse, foram poucas horas de uma curta impressão. A cidade, por exemplo, é conhecida por seu "Horto Municipal", coisa que inspira na gente, que não conhece, uma esperança de quem nem tudo seja pó e metal, circuitos elétricos, barulho e verbo desenfreado. I hope, soon, to meet this space of natural beauty.
